Piano Lessons with Stefan Wardale
Stefan is a performer and session pianist based in Leeds, teaching weekly on Thursdays in Richmond, Yorkshire. Lessons are available in Classical, Jazz and Pop styles.
Many of the skills learned in Classical piano also show up in Jazz and Pop.
Classical was the style I started with, it helped me build strong basics such as good posture, hand position, finger control, sight-reading, rhythm, accuracy, and expression.

Jazz
Jazz is many things to many people.
I perform and record in this genre. We can explore chords, melody, rhythms...
Similar to Pop Piano, there are many aspects to jazz. We can delve into swing feel, rich chord voicings, progressions, comping, (what is comping...? I can tell you that too!) and improvisation.
We can learn jazz standards, understand harmony, develop strong time 'feel', build confidence through ear training and music theory. If this doesn't mean anything to you right now, don't worry! Pop
One chord, two chords..? There is so much to learn in the Pop piano environment. I will focus on chord-based playing, understanding lead sheets, 'rhythmic grooves', and practical techniques used in contemporary pop music.
We will focus on learning by ear, playing with confidence, understanding ways of moving from one chord to another and tailoring these techniques to your own preferences.
